Mr. Darcy (He ignores us)

He ignores us or has ignorance of our
gorging hearts he talks to the same
woman and says the same things over
and over every waiter looks

like him we slouch on couches ready for
redlining there are red lions in all
of our dreams they spew out reams
of paper poems to her

when will it be our turn when are we
supposed to move on to another
town and wait in our gowns for another
man we pick lines from

a tree to make wine and drink his words
while we wait to see if we can get
into his heart for free we wait all night
even the stars abuse us like

bouncers with their winking pretending we
have a chance of getting in when
I smell my hands in the morning they
will smell used the opposite

of used must be amused we knew he could
never love anyone else but her
she is just a character still she will
always be better
