Licking Light

Light unlocks her sins
Licking dark light like a lizard’s tongue

The afternoon breaks open
Her music of radiance

The door is rolling on
The floor

And the colors of yesterday
Sunbathe in the shade

After all, the antithesis of desire
Is hair growing backward into the knees

And men crawling back into their graves
Children mowing the lawn without heads

Mothers folding their arms in wooden crates
Grandmothers giving hickeys to bruised plums
