Scott Barber, directly referencing and digitally manipulating microscopic images of his own cells, seeks to “create paintings that explore the world without fear and recognize beauty within the tumultuous, sometimes uncertain quality of life.” Using his own medical condition as a site of transformation, Barber directly confronts the increasing prevalence and almost otherworldly representation of the self through medical imaging.
