Creating his visual subject matter by moving photographs of medical imagery across a photocopier, John Pomara implants gesture, capriciousness, and uncertainty into medical fact. He constructs a fluid dialogue between both the processes and the literal surfaces of photography and painting, establishing cool fields of horizontal “zips” in flux.
