POETRY

LEONARD GONTAREK

Study/Bees

Sound of rain, room catching fire. When speaking with a woman

you should get close enough to breathe her perfume, as I have.

Vague trees, coiled gauze. I must know more than I let on.

September. Orange elms bleeding bees. White gull unscrolls.

Gold clasp catches in throat. Laden with autumn, summer water,

black leaves on leaves. The lake pearls & I swim to you.
