Lee Smith LEE SMITH

Lee Smith’s latest novel, On Agate Hill, was published in 2006 by Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill. She is the author of three collections of short stories and nine novels including, Oral History (1983), Fair and Tender Ladies (1988), The Devil’s Dream (1992), and Saving Grace (1995), all from Putnam. The Last Girls (Algonquin, 2002) was a New York Times bestseller as well as co-winner of the Southern Book Critics Circle Award. She is a member of the Fellowship of Southern Writers and the recipient of an Academy Award in Fiction from the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1999. Smith is a graduate of St. Catherine’s School and Hollins College. She lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
