BERNARD MARTIN

Bernard Martin is an emeritus professor of painting at Virginia Commonwealth University where he was the first chair of the Department of Painting and Printmaking. His professional career includes some fifty individual exhibitions ranging from Richmond, Virginia to Seattle, Washington and more than two hundred group exhibitions. His work is included in numerous public and corporate collections, including the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, Virginia, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia, and the National Collection of Fine Art in Washington, D.C., as well as in many national and international private collections. He is the recipient of a Theresa Pollak Prize for Excellence in the Arts from Richmond Magazine as well an individual research grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.  end
