TALVIKKI ANSEL

   Somewhere in Space
  (a poem in 10 parts)

Talvikki Ansel is the author of Somewhere in Space (Ohio State University Press, 2015), the 2014 winner of the Ohio State University Press/The Journal Award in Poetry, Jetty & Other Poems (Zoo Press, 2003), and My Shining Archipelago (Yale University Press, 1997), winner of the 1996 Yale Series of Younger Poets competition. Her poems have appeared in the anthologies New Young American Poets (Southern Illinois University, 2000) and The Pushcart Prize XXVI, and in magazines such as The Atlantic MonthlyThe New RepublicThe JournalPoetryPrairie Schooner, and Shenandoah. Ansel has received the 2001 Shenandoah/Glasgow Prize for Emerging Writers, a Wallace Stegner Fellowship from Stanford University, a Lannan Foundation residency, and a fellowship from the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Ansel has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Texas at Austin. Her poem “Somewhere in Space” appears in Somewhere in Space (2015) from Ohio State University Press.  end
