R. T. Smith's stories have appeared in The Southern Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, New Stories From The South (2002 and 2004 editions), and The Best American Short Stories, 2004. He is the author of numerous books of poetry, including, most recently, Brightwood: Poems (Louisiana State University, 2004). He is the editor of Shenandoah. Two of his poems appeared in the first issue of Blackbird.
