Margaret Evangeline on the making of Once Upon a Time in America:

When we got there, I found out my macho assistant was afraid of guns, he was afraid of poison ivy, but he was good at telling me what to do . . . . I love this part of it because you can hear me say, “Now where do I aim?” like I have to have a man to tell me. And he’s saying, “Aim at the camera. Aim at the camera.”

And so, of course, I would aim at the reflection of the camera lens to make it look as though I’m aiming directly at the viewer.
