RON SMITH

Ron Smith’s next book of poems, Its Ghostly Workshop, is forthcoming from Louisiana State University Press. He is also the author of Moon Road: Poems, 1986-2005 (Louisiana State University Press, 2007) and Running Again in Hollywood Cemetery (University Press of Florida, 1988). Smith is the recipient of the Carole Weinstein Poetry Prize, the Guy Owen Award from Southern Poetry Review, and the Theodore Rothke Poetry Prize from Poetry Northwest. His poems have appeared in The Nation, The Georgia Review, The Southern Review, Virginia Quarterly Review, Shenandoah, and New England Review. Smith’s critical prose has appeared in The Georgia Review, Blackbird, The Kenyon Review, and elsewhere. Smith has taught modern American poetry and poetry writing at Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Mary Washington. He is Writer-in-Residence at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, Virginia, where he also teaches in the University of Richmond’s Master of Liberal Arts program. He is the poetry editor for Aethlon: The Journal of Sports Literature and a curator for the Carole Weinstein Poetry Prize.  end
